Mindsets & Biases Refresher |
Mindsets & Biases Refresher is a two-hour course designed to help mid career and experience analysts recognize and mitigate potential analytic pitfalls that result from normal cognitive processes.
The course is delivered in lecture format, with heavy emphasis on participant interaction through facilitated discussions. Participants receive course materials to supplement brief lectures, allowing most of the time to be dedicated to discussion and short exercises.
The course covers the formation and origins of mindsets & biases; common ways in which mindsets & biases impact—both negatively and positively—analysis, and an overview of simple techniques analysts can apply to mitigate potential negative effects of mindsets & biases.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be better equipped to:
- Identify characteristics of their own—and others’—mindsets & biases that may negatively influence their analysis (i.e. raise awareness)
- Mitigate some of these adverse effects by applying critical thinking best practices
Who Should Attend: Everyone, in particular individuals conducting analysis of all sorts, and those who engage in problem solving regularly
