An Introduction to Financial and Capital Markets

An Introduction to Financial and Capital Markets is a specialized course providing practical in-depth familiarity with financial and capital markets to members of the Intelligence Community whose roles and missions require them to have such knowledge both as a first order tool and as a guide to further inquiry, analysis and action. The course covers all major facets of global financial, capital, commodities and derivatives markets from the perspective of private participants and public policy regulation.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will have gained a better understanding of:

  • The history, purpose, and structure of financial markets
  • Financial markets instruments
  • The strategies and techniques used in financial markets
  • The main private sector participants in financial markets
  • The global financial regulators in banking, securities, and commodities markets
  • The intersection of financial markets and the Intelligence Community
